Joel Novek is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Winnipeg in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He also teaches in the Environmental Studies Program at the same university. His research and teaching interests focus on the social context of technological change and the sociology of environmental issues.
Recent projects deal with the controversy over large scale hog operations and with food security issues in Western Canada.
