CCPA statement at the passing of Jack Layton

We are all heartbroken at the passing of Jack Layton.

On behalf of the staff and Board of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, our deepest condolences, love and support to Olivia and family, and to his NDP family.

An inspirational leader, he carried the hopes and dreams of all of us in the movement for social justice.

He symbolized the very best in political life.

He was a supporter of the CCPA, respected and encouraged our policy work, and celebrated with us at our 30th anniversary event last November.

We are profoundly saddened that he will not have the opportunity down the road to realize his dream of becoming Prime Minister of Canada.

We will always remember and be lifted by his indomitable spirit.

He touched us all. He left us too soon.

He was a great Canadian.

Support Our Work

The CCPA’s bold vision and creative solutions help us imagine better futures for all. Its efforts to build bridges between labour, industry, and civil society and mentor young activists lay the foundation for realizing those provocative futures. I consider my support for the CCPA an investment in a better future for British Columbia.
