Graphic and layout design – Freelance, ongoing

Application deadline: Wednesday July 3, 2013

The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives is one of Canada’s leading research institutes. Our BC office is seeking to build new relationships with freelance design professionals to complement our in-house and freelance creative team.

We are seeking the following creative services:

Print and digital layout:

  • Typesetting and layout of 20-50 page monograph research reports and shorter, more visual summaries. This comprises the majority of our design needs at this time.
  • Graphic design of posters, booklets, brochures and other popular materials.

—Infographic and/or data visualization design and production

Note: We are looking for professionals specializing in one or all of these areas, and would also be pleased to hear from designer teams with the combined skill set. Applicants do not necessarily need to be in Vancouver.

The CCPA publishes 1-2 research reports (with accompanying popular summaries) per month and has a regular but less frequent need for design of additional popular materials such as infographics, posters and brochures. We are looking for design professionals to create compelling material that supports our research, using CCPA’s visual identity and graphic design standards. Some material will employ existing templates while other items will require original design. Freelance designers work closely with and report to an in-house art director and a publications coordinator, with oversight from the Communications Director.

Welcome to the BC Office

Seth Klein

“When the CCPA British Columbia Office opened in 1997, we dove into BC’s public policy debates head first, backed by the solid research and expertise CCPA is known for. We’ve been at it ever since, challenging the message that there is no alternative, and showing that a more just, caring and sustainable society is possible.”
