New Canadian Chamber of Commerce Report on 2013 Labour Market

Canada's Labour Market Sputtered in 2013 delivers some alarming data: 2013 saw the slowest job growth since 2009 - when we were in the thick of the Great Recession; employment gains were found in the demographic aged 55 and over; fully 95 per cent of net job creation was in part-time; all net job creation was in the service sector; close to 68.6 per cent of the net new jobs were in Alberta. The report includes a sectoral breakdown of change from 2012-2013, a regional analysis and information on underemployment (what the reprot calls 'labour underutilization').
