Working for a Living Wage: Making paid work meet basic family needs in Metro Vancouver

The living wage has increased for Metro Vancouver and Victoria higher than the rate of inflation, driven primarily by the rise in housing costs, according to the 2021 update Working for a Living Wage: Making paid work meet basic family needs in Metro Vancouver, co-published by the CCPA-BC and Living Wage for Families BC.

The new report calculates the living wage in 14 communities across BC, using an analysis of the costs of basic needs for families and the savings resulting from government investments in initiatives such as affordable child care. It makes the case that all British Columbia families deserve a living wage and looks at the roles of both government and employers in getting there.
