Dr. Karen-Marie Elah Perry is an applied medical anthropologist with a focus on social justice and the ways inequalities shape access to health care. Karen-Marie has researched, lectured on and written on a variety of topics over the past 20 years, including through the CCPA- and Simon Fraser University-led Economic Security Project (which ran from 2004 to 2009), which resulted in enhanced supports for individuals receiving disability benefits in BC. More recently, Karen-Marie has released Virtual Reality and the Clinic, a short documentary that addresses
social exclusion and new medical technologies.
