A lot of AI discourse masks the fact that it is the result of a series of policy choices. Despite the government evoking Margaret Thatcher’s infamous “there is no alternative,” we do have a choice. And we should be serious about what that choice is.
A guide to standing up to book bans and beyond, and how to protect and strengthen public education in Canada
The Corporate Mapping Project is a collaborative research project between the University of Victoria, CCPA BC, CCPA SK and the Parkland Institute. It focuses on “mapping” how power and influence play out in the oil, gas and coal industries of BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan. We also map the wider connections that link Western Canada’s fossil fuel sector to other sectors of the economy (both national and global) and to other parts of society (governments and other public institutions, think tanks and lobby groups, etc).
In February 2025, the CCPA closed its BC Office. However, most of the people formerly associated with the BC Office are continuing their work at a new organization—BC Policy Solutions. An amicable separation agreement has been reached between the two organizations, and we encourage people to continue to support the good work of both the CCPA and BC Policy Solutions. The CCPA continues to ensure the voices and concerns of British Columbians are included in its national independent research, analysis and expertise and BC Policy Solutions continues to support the CCPA’s important research work on issues affecting all Canadians.
