Peace River Frack-Up

After reviewing hundreds of documents, obtained through a Freedom of Information (FOI) request, which raise concerns that BC Hydro’s Peace Canyon Dam could fail in the aftermath of an earthquake triggered by fracking operations, the CCPA BC office is calling for an immediate ban on fracking activity close to BC Hydro’s two existing Peace River dams as well as Site C. In his latest research on dam safety and the LNG industry, Ben Parfitt looks at correspondence from officials within the utility raising concerns about the safety of the dams, including concerns that were communicated to the BC Oil and Gas Commission.
